Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Jack Miller III is calling it quits.
The ex-Buckeyes signal-caller told reporters he would be leaving the Florida Gators, and not pursuing a transfer elsewhere.
Miller spent the 2022 season with the Gators after leaving Ohio State in the wake of a controversy. A redshirt-freshman at the time, Miller was cited for "operating a vehicle while intoxicated," a charge which was then downgraded to "reckless operation."
Ohio State coach Ryan Day levied an indefinite suspension against Miller pending the results of the investigation. However, Miller entered the transfer portal before the start of the season.
More recently, Miller completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for 180 yards during the 2022 Las Vegas Bowl against the Oregon State Beavers. Unfortunately, this outing against the Beavers would be the only one of his career with Florida.
Miller missed the entirety of the 2022 season following surgery he had to repair a thumb injury. After initial timelines had Miller being ready to go after the first few weeks of the season, some complications led to Miller having to spend the year working with trainers and medical staff, rather than his teammates.
The future is now unclear for Miller. A recent graduate from Florida, the former quarterback has several options in front of him for life after football.
Several college players end up working as assistants in their respective programs. It seems like Florida would at least offer that considering they never got to fully witness the value for which they brought Miller in.
