Former star QB Denard Robinson returns to Michigan as assistant director of player personnel

Former record-setting college quarterback Denard Robinson is returning to Michigan.

"Shoelace" played for the Wolverines from 2009 to 2012 and racked up 6,250 passing yards and 49 touchdown passes over 49 games. Robinson made his presence most known as a runner though, gaining 4,495 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns on 723 career carries, while averaging 6.2 yards per carry.

As a sophomore, Robinson set career-bests in completion percentage (62.5%) passing yards (2,570) and rushing yards (1,702) and was named the 2010 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as a result, while making First-Team All-American and First-Team All-Big Ten as well. His rushing total led the conference that season and was second-best in the NCAA, only trailing Oregon running back LaMichael James.

Robinson was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 55 career NFL games from 2013 to 2016, Robinson served primarily as a running back with the Jaguars, recording 1,058 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 263 carries.

The 31-year-old also graced the cover of the video game "NCAA Football 14," which was the final installment of the "NCAA Football" series.
