Four-star 2024 QB 'Air' Noland may have the best nickname in college football soon enough

There have been some great nicknames in college football. Johnny Manziel, also known as "Johnny Football", immediately comes to mind. Or how about Walter Peyton? He earned the nickname "Sweetness" on a practice field at Jackson State.

High school quarterback Prentiss Noland will certainly find himself amongst the top nicknames in college football history. He'll be right up there with the Johnny Footballs and Sweetnesses of the college football world.

You see, Prentiss is better known as Air Noland, the four-star 2024 quarterback out of Fairburn, GA. It was a nickname that was passed on by his father, according to a profile on The Athletic.

“My dad was nicknamed Air Jordan in high school. He wore Jordans, had a bald head like him, dressed like him, was skinny, had the calf sleeve and everything. They just started calling him Air. So, he passed it down to me. It’s on my birth certificate. I love my name," Noland told Manny Navarro.

Noland is still undecided about where he will play college football, but you can bet he'll be at a big-time program. The rising-senior quarterback has 32 offers to his name and that's a list that includes Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Miami, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, Utah and West Virginia, among many others. Noland is planning on taking visits to Clemson, Ohio State, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Miami in the coming months.

He's considered the No. 11 quarterback in his class, per the 247Sports Composite, but in terms of nicknames, he's No. 1 in our hearts.

For the record, other awesome nicknames college football players have rocked include "The Freak" for Jevon Kearse, and "Honey Badger", AKA Tyrann Mathieu.
