ESPN’s Bill Connelly has released what he believes are the percentages of teams’ returning productions for the 2024 season. Florida State lost a lot of talent but replaced it with a stellar transfer portal effort.

According to 247Sports, FSU holds the #4 transfer class in the country with 10 four-star recruits and five three-star recruits. Those 15 total commitments account for their entire portal class.

However, Connelly has the Seminoles placed in the bottom half of his list for returning production. They sit at 83rd out of 134 teams.

In his article, he specifically breaks down the Garnet and Gold’s situation as an example of his ranking system.

“Take Florida State, for instance. The Seminoles lost Jordan Travis to expired eligibility and saw second-stringer Tate Rodemaker enter the transfer portal. That duo accounted for about 93% of FSU's passing yards in 2023, but because Mike Norvell earned a commitment from Oregon State's DJ Uiagalelei, his 2,638 passing yards are now plugged into both sides of the equation, and FSU's "returns" 49% of its passing yardage.”

This algorithm has Florida State with 58% total returning production. 56% of their offense is returning coupled with 60% of their defense.

Notable names ahead of FSU include Clemson (54th), Miami (45th), and Florida (32nd).

Of Florida State’s 2024 scheduled opponents, the California Golden Bears return the 14th most production with 73%.

The ’Noles and Golden Bears will meet in Doak Campbell Stadium on Sept. 21. It will be the final leg of a three-game homestand before their first true road matchup against Southern Methodist in Dallas, Texas.
