2024 Burley (Id.) wide receiver Gatlin Bair has decommitted from the Boise State Broncos

He announced his decision over social media.

The decision to reopen his recruitment comes on the heels of Boise State firing head coach Andy Avalos, a former Oregon defensive coordinator, last month.

What makes this news even more interesting is that Bair decided to take an unofficial visit to Eugene last month and had a front row seat to take in Oregon's 36-27 win over the USC Trojans. Oregon wide receivers Troy Franklin and Tez Johnson played a huge role in that win, with the duo combining for nine catches, 273 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Bair has made a name for himself as one of the top wide receivers in the country and was down to a final five of Boise State, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska and TCU prior to his initial pledge to the Broncos.

The Ducks haven't made a huge impact recruiting Idaho in the past, but they did sign true freshman tight end Kenyon Sadiq from Idaho Falls (Id.) Skyline Senior High School--the state's number one player in 2023.

Adding further intrigue to Bair's recruitment is that a pair of Oregon coaches, Junior Adams and Joe Lorig flew out to Idaho last month to take in a Burley game.

With Boise State in limbo amid a coaching search and the signal stealing scandal looming over the Michigan program, Oregon could be emerging as a leader to flip the speedy wide receiver, who has run the 100 meters in the neighborhood of 10.5 seconds.

The Ducks already have three talented wide receivers in the fold for the 2024 class, but are continuing to push for Bair. They also landed a commitment from 2024 Orem (Ut.) wide receiver/tight end Roger Saleapaga on Friday.

Other names to watch for Oregon at the receiver spot this cycle include St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers standout Jeremiah McClellan, an Ohio State commit and Tualatin (Ore.) tight end Jayden Fortier, who's committed to Arizona State.
