Georgetown's Dijon Williams arrested for alleged role in July homicide

Mark Schlabach of ESPN reported on Tuesday that Georgetown Hoyas senior wide receiver Dijon Williams was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Monday for his alleged role in a homicide that occurred in northwest Washington, D.C. in July.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department suspect Williams was involved in the shooting of 30-year-old Nurudeen Thomas. Williams was arrested in suburban Atlanta and is awaiting extradition back to the D.C. area.

Per Georgetown's official website, Williams tallied four catches for 33 yards during the 2017 season but missed the entire 2018 campaign because of injury. Williams appeared in five contests for Georgetown last year.

The Hoyas suspended Williams and released a statement shared by Schlabach:

"Georgetown University became aware of charges against Dijon Williams this evening. While we are working to learn more information, we will cooperate fully with any investigation and we stand prepared to offer resources to members of our community who may be affected by this news. At this time, there are no indications that the alleged crime took place near the University."

Georgetown competes in the Patriot League, which postponed football and other fall sports because of the coronavirus pandemic on July 13.
