Georgia Football and Kirby Smart just signed their eighth consecutive top five recruiting class in a row this spring, they're on pace for another in 2025, and after today they've already built the foundation for 2026. The number one recruit in the nation signed with Georgia on Saturday afternoon, choosing the Bulldogs over a host of other blue blood programs across the country.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3.com, Jared Curtis, a consensus five star quarterback and number one overall player at the position from Nashville, TN has committed to Georgia. He had 36 offers from FBS college football programs, but chose Georgia over top tier schools like Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Curtis had visited Georgia, Alabama, Florida State and Tennessee twice apiece in the last year along with a handful of other blue blood programs, but in the end Georgia's coaching staff pulled off the huge recruiting win.

When asked about what made Curtis choose Georgia his answer was less than surprising. "Just the way all their coaching staff is together...I know they're settled and not going anywhere." He also went on to talk through how confident he was that Smart and the Georgia staff would develop him too.

With Nick Saban now retired from Alabama, there's no question about it. Georgia Football is officially the new standard in college football recruiting and the rest of the nation is chasing them. The clear continuity in coaching staff, back to back national championships in 2021 and 2022, and proven quarterback development make the Bulldogs the perfect landing spot for top tier passers.

Georgia football does not have a 2025 QB committed, so Curtis very well could be asked to step onto the field quite early in his Bulldog career. Jared Curtis is still two years away from officially joining Georgia, but he'll be the most important piece in building what could be Kirby Smart's tenth straight top five recruiting class when the time comes.
