Georgia has three quarterbacks vying to replace Stetson Bennett

Stetson Bennett will go down as a college football legend and he's undoubtedly a legend for the Georgia Bulldogs thanks to the two College Football Playoff National Championships he helped bring to Athens.

Bennett is now trying to make his way to the NFL, but in the meantime, head coach Kirby Smart and the remaining Bulldogs are tasked with trying to replace the quarterback who threw for 4,127 yards and 27 touchdowns last season and 2,862 yards and 29 touchdowns the season before.

To that point, Smart feels good about the program's options moving forward. Junior Carson Beck, sophomore Brock Vandagriff and freshman Gunner Stockton are all in the running to replace the two-time national champion. In spring practice, Vandagriff and Beck will split snaps with the No. 1 offense.

"We think we have three really good quarterbacks, and I'm really excited about all three of those guys to grow and get better," Smart told the media, per ESPN. "I do look forward to seeing Carson and Brock getting a lot of that action. They'll both rep with the ones. As far as how much, that'll play itself out over the course of the spring. Gunner's come a long way. I'm excited to see what those guys can do. They've been excited about meeting and doing things with Coach Bobo and the offensive staff. I'm excited to see those guys at practice."

It's almost fitting that UGA will get a fresh start under center since the Bulldogs will be working with a new offensive coordinator, Mike Bobo, who took over for Todd Monken. Monken left for the NFL and an offensive coordinator gig with the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaking of quarterbacks, Bobo is a former Georgia quarterback -- who threw for 2,751 yards and 19 touchdowns in 1997 -- and he was the offensive coordinator for the Bulldogs under Mark Reicht from 2007-14. He had a mediocre run as head coach at Colorado State from 2015-19 before heading back to the assistant ranks, where he's been ever since.

Bobo was an offensive analyst for the Bulldogs last season and he'll now serve as the team's quarterbacks coach as well as play-caller.

Throughout the course of the spring and fall, it will be interesting to see which quarterback Bobo, Smart, and the Bulldogs ultimately go with.
