Georgia pushing for five-star OT recruit Josh Petty

Josh Petty, a five-star offensive tackle from Roswell, Ga,, is a major 2025 recruit. As such, several big-time schools are after his commitment, but perhaps none bigger than the in-state Georgia Bulldogs.

In-state recruiting is the lifeblood of most good programs and in Petty, Kirby Smart and his staff clearly see a player that they can't afford to miss out on.

Petty has 40 offers to his name, but he recently took a weekend visit to UGA and it sounds as if that could go a long way towards putting the Bulldogs over the top.

“I like the way Georgia is trending in this one,” On3 Georgia recruiting insider Jake Rowe recently said. “If I take you back five to six months, I would’ve said I don’t really see it happening. There was something that was just a little bit off there. But Georgia’s message seems to be resonating with Petty in a way now that it wasn’t a few months ago. I actually like Georgia’s chances here right now, and I think this visit is a big part of it.”

Petty confirmed that the visit was a big deal.

“I had a great time with the coaches,” the 5-star offensive tackle told On3. “I really love the staff over there. I’ve got a great relationship with Coach (Kirby) Smart and Coach (Stacy) Searels those guys feel like family.”

Petty went on to say that his visit to Georgia "was a great demonstration of how special that program is and how bad they want a national title."

Smart knows a thing or two about winning it all. Now let's see if he and his staff can win over Petty.

Clemson, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Florida State are also major players in his recruitment.

Per 247Sports, Petty is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the Class of 2025.
