After picking up a road victory in Lafayette and their sixth victory of the year, the Georgia State Panthers are once again eligible for a bowl game. Shawn Elliott's team are off to a 6-1 start, the best in program history.

GSU defeated the Ragin' Cajuns by a score of 20-17 on Saturday night.

Panthers' starting quarterback Darren Grainger threw for 211 yards with 17 completions.

Grainger left the game briefly with an injury in the second quarter, allowing backup QB Mikele Colasurdo to rush for a touchdown.

Georgia State running back Marcus Carroll carried 26 times for 110 yards in addition to two receptions for 55 yards.

While the Panthers turned the ball over twice themselves, cornerback Gavin Pringle intercepted Louisiana QB Zeon Chriss in the end zone with 30 seconds left to seal the win.

In the five previous times that Georgia State has played in a bowl game, they have amassed a 3-2 record.

The last time the Panthers were in the postseason in 2021, they won the Camelia Bowl 51-20 over Ball State. Grainger was named the MVP of that game. Georgia State finished that 2021 season with an 8-5 record, their highest win total as a program.

The Panthers will continue their 2023 campaign on October 26 when they face Georgia Southern in Statesboro. They'll look to improve their Sun Belt Conference record to 4-1 on the season.
