Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, along with fellow teammate Amarius Mims, worked out privately in front of NFL scouts and coaches on Wednesday.

And according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Bowers looked "explosive" and "moved well" during position drills.

"Georgia TE Brock Bowers and OT Amarius Mims had their makeup Pro Day today. Bowers, at 241 pounds, looked explosive/moved well. Mims declined to weigh in. Both only did position drills—no testing for either. Giants TEs coach Tim Kelly, Jets TEs coach Ron Middleton were on hand," Breer reported.

Neither Bowers nor Mims ran the 40-yard dash.

Mims also declined to weigh in again after he weighed in at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds and ran an official 5.07 second 40 at the NFL Combine.

Breer did not report why Bowers chose to opt out of the 40 and other on-field testing, though the decision is not expected to hurt his draft stock.

Bowers' decision to not run the 40 may look concerning to some fans, but it's become typical for top draft prospects. For example, Ohio State star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. also opted to not do any on-field testing during this year's pre-draft process.

As Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said at Pro Day last month, Bowers has nothing more to prove and has enough game tape of him outrunning defenders that shows off his elite speed.

“Watch the tape. The tape speaks for itself,” Smart told reporters on March 13. “Nobody really asks about Brock because everybody’s seen him. They’ve been to our practices. They know what he can do. I don’t think there’s a lot of questions about Brock Bowers’ toughness or ability.”

Per Breer, New York Giants tight end coach Tim Kelly and New York Jets tight end coach Ron Middleton were notable NFL personnel in Athens watching Bowers.

The Giants pick at No. 6 overall and the Jets pick at No. 10 in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
