Every team no matter what level or sport has a player that is crucial to that team's success during the season. Players whose sheer presence elevates their team to championship status, while the absence of said player of this caliber can doom a team's season entirely. Most teams have one of these players for each unit. Here is who the Bulldogs' defensive MVP is heading into the season...

Ever since Kirby Smart took control of the Bulldogs program back in 2016 , Georgia has had a slew of highly talented players which have helped the Bulldogs become one of the most ferocious defenses in college football. But this year it will take a massive effort from one player in particular to ensure that the Bulldogs' defense remains elite. That player is defensive lineman Zion Logue

Those who are familiar with Kirby Smart's defense, or any defense in general understand that winning the line of scrimmage is the most crucial piece to any successful unit. If a defense cannot neutralize a team's rushing attack and force a quarterback to throw the ball before he wants to, they are in big trouble.

Over the past few seasons, Georgia's defensive line has been one of the best in the country in doing so. But with the absence of Bulldog greats such as Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt, and others the responsibility of maintaining the standard now falls upon Logue's shoulders. However, the senior from Lebanon, TN. seems more than ready to take on that role.

Logue has emerged as one of the leaders for Georgia's 2023 season and his experience will be greatly needed as the Bulldogs have seen a fair amount of departures at the defensive line position as of late. How Logue performs during the 2023 season will be a major indicator of what kind of success the Bulldogs will have on the defensive side of the ball.

While there is not usually one player in particular that determines a defense's success, the absence of Zion Logue on the Bulldogs' interior defensive line is one that would likely be the most felt by Georgia's defensive unit. As his leadership and experience in his position are some of the most valuable traits for maintaining Georgia's defensive dominance.
