After starting the season with a historic win over Baylor, the Texas State went on to secure six wins and bowl eligibility for the first time since 2014. However, the Bobcats have lost three of their last four games. This past Saturday, Texas State lost to Arkansas State 77-31. It was the most points the Bobcats have ever allowed in the history of their football program.
First-year head coach G.J. Kinne isn't one to overreact. However, during this week's Sun Belt media availability, he recognized that his team needs to make a couple tweaks in the next days and weeks.

"I think we've just been inconsistent," Kinne stated. "Just to be perfectly honest with you, year one, you have a bunch of new players. I think we started off really really strong and once you get into conference play and people have more film of you, I think we just have to do a better job of coaching. I think we have to do a better job at all areas. I think we need to play better, we need to coach better."
Texas State also have the unpleasant task of dealing with injuries to key contributors on the defensive line, as well as to contributing running back Calvin Hill, and other areas. In his press conference on Tuesday, Kinne stated that "a bunch of guys" would be game-time decisions.

"You never want to blame stuff on injuries. I'm not that guy. It's kind of loser mentality. But it is what is. We have a bunch of key players not playing right now. I think it hurts you on special teams more than anything. We just got to continue to coach these guys hard and love em up. The message this week is for the seniors and to send these guys out on the right note and to finish what is, in my opinion, a successful season...We need to send these seniors out on the right note and have some momentum going into that bowl game."
Texas State play their final regular season game on November 25 when they host South Alabama. The game will be broadcast on NFL Network and kick off at 7 PM ET.
