One reason that Kyle McCord might want to avoid Nebraska football, plus a sweep into the Elite 8 for the Huskers.

Let’s celebrate Husker fans before we get to the latest on Kyle McCord and Nebraska football because the Nebraska volleyball team is back in the Elite 8.

It was another dominant performance at the BOB on Thursday as 12th-ranked Georgia Tech never stood a chance in the regional semifinal, getting swept by Nebraska volleyball by 25-11, 25-16, and 25-21 scores. Nebraska hit .326 in the win over the Yellow Jackets, while limiting Georgia Tech to just .019.

Merritt Beason was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 11 kills on just 23 swings. She also had a key solo block. Ally Batenhorst contributed with 10 kills, while Andi Jackson had four kills, without an error, and five blocks. Bergen Reilly also did her part with three blocks, 10 digs, and 30 assists.

Nebraska volleyball will take on Arkansas on Saturday at 5 PM CST with a berth in the Final Four on the line.

One thing that could keep Kyle McCord from Nebraska

Nebraska football has been “aggressively” going after transfer portal quarterbacks. One of them is former Ohio State starter Kyle McCord.

According to reports, McCord doesn’t want to rush the process and wants to take visits. However, in what could be a good sign, McCord has started following a number of Nebraska football players on Twitter.

That could mean something. It could mean nothing. But there does seem to be one issue for Nebraska football to get over if it’s going to land McCord and it’s the fact that the Huskers go to Columbus next season.

According to Steve Sipple of Husker Online, McCord doesn’t love the idea of going to Ohio State to face his old team, which I can understand. That’s what made me think he could leave the Big Ten altogether.

Nebraska is also trying to get an official visit for Cameron Ward, one of the top overall players in the transfer portal, but the competition is stiff.

We’ll see what happens this weekend with the Cornhuskers quarterback pursuit, but I wouldn’t expect it to come to a close anytime soon.
