In just one week, Deion Sanders has Colorado in the AP Top 25

Much was made about Deion Sanders' arrival at Colorado and the hype that he brought to the program and its overhauled roster. And at least after Week 1 of the 2023 college football season, the Buffaloes have lived up to the hype.

Colorado is coming off a one-win season, mind you. After "Coach Prime's" first game, the Buffaloes have already tied their win total from last year. Not only that, but their 45-42 barn-burning upset win over then-No. 17 TCU has earned them a spot in the AP Top 25.

Colorado enters Week 2 against Nebraska with a brand new and shiny No. 22 ranking. It's the first time since 2020 that Colorado has been ranked, and considering the win came against last season's College Football Playoff runner-up, there's a case to be made that the Buffs' ranking should be even higher.

Everything about Colorado's win lived up to the hype. Every time TCU hit Sanders' team, the Buffs hit back — even harder.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders (Deion's kid as Gus Johnson called him) was phenomenal. He set a school record with 510 yards through the air. That included four touchdowns, three of which went to rookie running back Dylan Edwards.

Edwards also scored on the ground once, putting up 159 total yards and four total touchdowns.

And then there was cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, who looked like the best football player on the planet. He played lockdown defense at corner, snagging one pick, and he also caught 11 passes for 119 yards.

Hunter is a true two-way threat, so good that he has the potential to be a Heisman Trophy contender and he very well may be the favorite after Week 1.

With 0-1 Nebraska coming up and the Buffaloes hosting the Cornhuskers in what is certain to be a rowdy Folsom Field, there's a good chance we'll see Sanders and Colorado continue to move up the rankings after Week 2.
