Insider reveals 'favorite fit' for former Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.

Several quarterback-needy teams will likely target former Washington standout Michael Penix Jr. in this month's NFL Draft, but ESPN's Mina Kimes has one fit that stands out as the strongest in her mind.

Speaking on NFL Live, Kimes pointed to the Las Vegas Raiders as her "favorite fit" for Penix.

"I think he's the kind of player who has obviously played a lot of football and can come in and compete immediately," Kimes said on NFL Live. "And that's what the Las Vegas Raiders, with their current quarterback group, Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew, need is someone who can come in and compete for that starting job."

Kimes' point makes sense regarding his readiness to play immediately with the Raiders or another team. After playing 21 games in his first four collegiate seasons, Penix suited up for 28 contests in two seasons with Washington. Furthermore, he produced, passing for 9,544 yards and 67 touchdowns as a Huskie.

Along with Penix's experience and skill set, Kimes believes the Raiders mirror his situation in Washington, which could help the rookie adjust to the NFL game.

"When you look at this Raiders receiver group, Davante Adams, Jacobi Meyers, they're kind of eerily similar to the players he was working with at Washington," Kimes said. "With Adams being your Rome Odunze and Meyers being your Ja'Lynn Polk underneath. It's just easy for me to imagine him throwing beautiful back-shoulder fades to Devante Adams because we have proof of concept."

Penix's fit with the Raiders isn't in question, but where they select him might be, considering he's among the second tier of QB prospects.

"I don't know about at pick No. 13, but I would really like him at that particular destination," Kimes said.

If not at No. 13, the Raiders would have to hope Penix falls to them in the second round at No. 44, or a trade-up would be necessary to land him.
