The Iowa Hawkeyes (6-1, 3-1) won the Heartland trophy last week. They beat the Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 15-6 behind new starting quarterback Deacon Hill. Iowa did not score many points in the last contest, but they are winning games this season.

On Tuesday, the Iowa Hawkeyes received some bad news regarding one of their wide receivers. According to Pete Thamel, tight end Erik All is done for the season after suffering a torn ACL injury at Wisconsin last Saturday.

Iowa Hawkeyes TE Erik All Is Out For The Rest of 2023

Erik All transferred to Iowa after last season from the University of Michigan. During his career at Michigan, All had 56 receptions for 565 yards. The former Wolverine tight end had 5 total touchdowns during his three-year career before moving on to Iowa.

Erik All Stats at Iowa

Tight end Erik All had 21 catches for 299 yards with the Iowa Hawkeyes before his season-ending injury. He was the Hawkeyes top receiver in the passing game during this season.

During this season,  Iowa has not scored lots of points on offense. Last week against the Wisconsin Badgers, they scored 15 points in their win. They were able to secure the Heartland Trophy and become bowl-eligible.

Hawkeyes Offense Going Forward

The Hawkeyes offense liked to rely on Erik All in the passing game. Iowa’s second leading receiver, Luke Lachey, has 10 catches for 131 yards. Obviously, the Iowa Hawkeyes use their tight ends a lot in their passing attack.

Now, with Deacon Hill at quarterback, Iowa will need their big-play wide receivers to step up even more on offense. Against Wisconsin, Hill went 6-14 for 37 yards. He did not throw a touchdown pass in the last game.

Hopefully, the Iowa Hawkeyes can produce more points on offense as the season continues with five games left on the BIG schedule. They are currently at the top of the West Division after their last win on the road. Trying to fill the void of Erik All will be a tough task for Iowa going forward.
