The Penn State football coaching staff has a common goal of keeping the best players from PA in PA to play college football. On top of that, if a player has legacy ties meaning their father played for the Blue and White they become a priority as well. Now, if both boxes are checked for a prospect where they are from PA and a legacy prospect that’s even more powerful. That’s where 2025 recruiting IOL target Michael Carroll finds himself. Now, Dabo Swinney  and the Clemson Tigers have made Carroll a scholarship offer after a recent visit.

Penn State legacy prospect picks up offer from ACC powerhouse

Michael Carroll is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. From Doylestown, PA, and standing at 6 foot 6 300 pounds, Carroll will likely be an interior offensive lineman at the next level. He recently has jumped into the top 100 prospects according to On3, where they list him at No. 69 overall in the country. On3 also has Carroll as the No. 3 player in PA.

Now, Carroll has posted on social media that he not only has taken a visit to Clemson and met with Dabo Swinney, but the Tigers have offered him a scholarship as well. Carroll is the son of Michael Carroll Sr., who played linebacker for Penn State football in the late 1990s.

Is another 2025 Penn State football legacy prospect slipping away?

While the Central Bucks’ star has upcoming visits scheduled with Rutgers and Michigan the Nittany Lions are going to need to fight hard to earn a commitment from Michael Carroll. Including fending off Clemson now that they are in the mix.

If Carroll chooses to commit elsewhere he would be the second legacy prospect this cycle that James Franklin will have missed on. Anthony Sacca son of former Penn State QB Tony Sacca made his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday. While the Nittany Lions are in great shape with the 2025 recruiting class, I would imagine Phil Trautwein and James Franklin will make a final push to make sure Carroll does not commit elsewhere.
