USC flirted with some quarterbacks who entered the transfer portal over the last few weeks, but Miller Moss showed on Wednesday why the Trojans don’t need to look elsewhere to find their next quarterback.

Moss started at quarterback for the Trojans and led the team to a 42-28 win over the Louisville Cardinals in the DirecTV Holiday Bowl at Petco Park in San Diego.

Moss was making just his first start since 2019, which is when he was in high school, but he looked more than ready for the occasion as he replaced Caleb Williams.

Moss went 23-for-33 for 372 yards with six touchdowns and an interception. He found both Tahj Washington and Ja’Kobi Lane for two touchdowns, giving him four of his six TDs. His six touchdown passes set a USC bowl record.

A redshirt sophomore, Moss had seen limited action since 2021, but this was by far the most playing time he’s received.

He was in command of the offense and showed great leadership firing up his teammates on the sidelines. He executed plays and placed his passes perfectly:

USC will be facing much tougher defenses in the 2024 season, so some of the passes Moss threw up might not be caught so easily against other teams.

But he sure proved that USC will not be better off grabbing a transfer QB instead of rolling with him for next season.
