I might be biased because I’m a Michigan football fan, but Jake Butt is one of the best young broadcasters in the business. He does an exceptional job for the Big Ten Network and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Butt will be on the call for the Michigan football spring game on Saturday.

We have learned that Butt will be in the booth for the Wolverines spring game on Saturday, which will be shown on Fox in a national television broadcast. Ohio State had a similar broadcast last week. Their spring game was the first to be broadcast in front of a national TV audience, but only because their game was first.

The Wolverines are actually going to play a game too. I’d be very surprised if we saw any “thud” tackling like we saw the Ohio State Buckeyes do — with their starters. The backups hit. But man, this is football.

Ohio State has a ton of talent. No question about it. But Ryan Day might want to re-examine what toughness means because Ohio State didn’t look like a tough team on Saturday. It looked like the same old Buckeyes who have lost the past three games to their rivals.

I’ll be the first to say spring games don’t matter much. Michigan football has lots of questions to answer in its own right, starting at quarterback. However, as Butt has alluded to on social media, this Michigan team has some of the best players in college football back at their positions (Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Will Johnson, and Colston Loveland).

The Wolverines also have a stellar offensive line, or they will, and the D-line is as good as it gets. We’ll get our first glimpse of Michigan football Saturday and Jake Butt will be on the call. He’ll also have some “special” guests joining him that have yet to be announced.
