COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman is listed as "day-to-day" after suffering a lower-leg injury, Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher said Monday during his weekly press conference.

The Aggies (3-1, 1-0 SEC) take on Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the annual Southwest Classic this upcoming Saturday. Fisher did not say which quarterback would start against the Razorbacks (2-2, 0-1 SEC).

Weigman left Saturday's 27-10 win over Auburn just before halftime after being rolled up on following an incomplete pass on third down. He received X-rays that came back negative but did not return for the second half.

Redshirt sophomore Max Johnson filled in for the injured Weigman and impressed, throwing for 123 yards and two touchdowns en route to an SEC-opening victory over the Tigers. He completed 63.3 percent of his throws and connected with his younger brother, Jake Johnson, for a 22-yard score to give the Aggies a 13-3 lead.

"Max came in and did a great job once Conner got injured," Fisher said.

Weigman, who won the starting job over Johnson in fall camp, finished 8-of-14 for 70 yards before leaving Saturday's action. Through four games, the Cypress native has completed 82-of-119 passes for 979 with eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

Johnson, who started two seasons at LSU, replaced initial 2022 starter Haynes King in Week 3 following a 17-14 loss to Appalachian State. He impressed in three starts, picking up wins over then-No. 13 Miami and then-No. 10 Arkansas before suffering a season-ending thumb injury on his throwing hand in a Week 5 loss against Mississippi State.

In four games last fall, Johnson completed 43-of-71 passes for 517 yards and three touchdowns. Last season in the Southwest Classic, Johnson threw for 151 yards and a touchdown en route to a 23-21 victory.

"You have two guys, guys I've said from the beginning I've felt very confident with," Fisher said of Johnson. "He came in and played excellent football and did a great job. He made plays and really led us through the game."

Fisher also said receiver Noah Thomas should be cleared for Saturday's game after being ruled out for Week 4's victory at home. Thomas did not play in the second half of A&M's 47-3 win against Louisiana-Monroe in Week 3.

Safety Jardin Gilbert will be out "for a while" after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this month.

Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m.
