Former Michigan State star Josiah Price has offered a helping hand to new tight ends coach Brian Wozniak.

Jonathan Smith officially announced the hires of some of his new staff on Thursday and one of the most intriguing names was Brian Wozniak. Obviously this was reported last week, but Wozniak is considered one of the better tight ends coaches in the country. He’ll be more than welcomed in East Lansing where there hasn’t been a consistent tight end threat since Josiah Price.

Speaking of Price, he welcomed the news of Wozniak in East Lansing. He took to Twitter (X) to congratulate the new tight ends coach on the hire and told him that if he ever needs help, he doesn’t mind being a resource.

When you hear about Michigan State having a “family atmosphere”, this is exactly what that means. Price hasn’t played at Michigan State since 2016 and he’s been in the NFL and since retired and yet he wants to do whatever he can to help the Spartans. He wants to be a helping hand for the new coach at the position in which he excelled in the green and white.

You don’t see this all the time at other schools. Former players don’t always offer to help the new coach ease into his new role. Michigan State is clearly not like most places.

And if Wozniak is wise, he’ll take Price up on that. Although Wozniak has produced some top-tier tight ends of his own like 2023 second-round pick Luke Musgrave and sophomore sensation Jack Velling, Price was a star at Michigan State. He knows what it takes to succeed here. Price was one of the most decorated tight ends in Michigan State history with over 1,200 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns on 104 catches. This is a great resource for Wozniak to have.

The tight ends may soon become the MVPs of the offense — finally.
