Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops sent a savage message to his team after UK's spring football game this past weekend.

Well, he sent a savage message to at least a couple of his players.

Stoops was asked after Kentucky's spring game if he plans to pursue any players in the NCAA transfer portal with the spring window opening on Tuesday. He was also asked if he anticipates losing any players to the portal.

The longtime Kentucky head coach quickly told reporters that he hopes he loses a few players.

"I need to lose a few (players)," said Stoops. "We need to get to 85 (scholarship players). So if I want to gain some (players from the portal), I gotta lose a few."

If you're a Kentucky football player that's on scholarship and the coaching staff doesn't think you can help the program win games in 2024, then you might want to start looking around at some transfer options.

Because it definitely sounds like Stoops has a few players on his roster that he's hoping to replace with better options from the NCAA transfer portal.

That's the savage reality of the new NIL/transfer portal era. Players are always looking for a better situation and coaches, meanwhile, are always looking for better players.
