The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off a mediocre season in the SEC. While they went undefeated in conference play, they went 3-5 in the SEC and finished 7-5 overall. As many teams are dealing with the loss of players entering the transfer portal, we are starting to hear news of their new landing spots. Former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff told On3 that he is heading to Kentucky next season.

Kentucky Wildcats Land QB Brock Vandagriff

It wasn’t a surprise that Vandagriff entered the portal. All indications are that Carson Beck will be back for another season meaning Vandagriff would once again be on the bench. He went looking for a place to start and it didn’t take him long to find the perfect fit. “Mainly just really like what they do on offense and knew that was something I wanted to be a part of. Coach Coen knows what he’s doing and I am ready to get to work,” Vandagriff told On3. This is a massive get for the Wildcats.

2 Years Of Eligibility Left

The even better news for the Wildcats is this is not a one-and-done player. Vandagriff still has two years of eligibility left meaning they could get two years of their quarterback position being taken care of. This allows the team to fill out the roster in other ways. The only concern would be Vandagriff’s lack of playing time. In his career, he only has completed 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. Still, he was a five-star recruit for a reason and fans should be happy about it.

Can Vandagriff get the Wildcats into contention in the SEC? It will be much more difficult in 2024 as Texas and Oklahoma join the ranks.
