Former Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Keon Coleman is giving NFL scouts plenty to think about and consider at this year’s NFL combine. While the six-foot-four-inch Seminole star is not known for its speed, it definitely helped him turn some heads during the gauntlet drill.

Coleman, who’s a part of Group 8 for the wide receivers, was clocked with a 4.61 40-yard dash earlier at the combine. That was the slowest 40-yard dash in his group. But when it came to the gauntlet drill, Coleman was clocked running over 20 mph (20.36 mph), according to Next Gen. Stats, which was the fastest recorded time in his group for the event.

You can check out Colman’s impressive gauntlet performance in the video below.

For those who are unaware, the gauntlet drill is a sprint across the width of the field (54 yards) that is accompanied by the receiver turning and adjusting to catch balls thrown from the left and the right of them. On the final catch, towards the opposite sideline, they must then turn upfield and sprint through the marker. Coleman was able to complete all six of his catches during the drill with some serious speed, displaying his next-level hands and ball skills.

Michael Irvin on Coleman: ‘This is what Dallas needs’

Coleman’s gauntlet drill performance was so impressive it had one NFL Hall of Famer calling for his former team to take action at the 2024 Draft. NFL Network’s Michael Irvin is enamored with the former Seminole star, and he made the case for the Dallas Cowboys to go get him in the draft.

In the past two years for Florida State, Keon Coleman hauled in over 600 receiving yards, putting together some of the most spectacular highlight catches in college football. In 2023, he had 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns. His stats were a touch better in 2022, hauling in 58 catches for 798 yards and seven touchdowns.
