LSU QB Myles Brennan confirms end of college football career

Myles Brennan was once given an opportunity to start for the LSU Tigers in September 2020.

It's now known he's taken his last snap for LSU and any other team.

According to Michael Bonnette of the official LSU website, Brennan announced on Monday that he's decided to end his college football career. Brennan later confirmed the news that he was stepping away from football via social media:

"We are grateful to Myles for everything he has done for LSU Football," LSU head coach Brian Kelly said in a released statement. "Myles is a great leader who has made a tremendous impact on this program, and he has earned the respect of everyone here through his commitment and love for LSU. Myles has always embodied the traits required to fulfill our mission to graduate champions, and we have full confidence those traits will help him succeed at every step in his journey as he moves forward."

In total, Brennan appeared in 20 games and made three starts with LSU. An injury cut his 2020 season short, and he then went down with a campaign-ending arm injury before LSU reported for training camp last year.

ESPN's Alex Scarborough explained that Brennan had been competing with Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier for the starting job this summer. Brennan temporarily entered the transfer portal last winter but was convinced to stay by Kelly after he was hired by the university. Kelly then acquired Daniels via the portal after the signal-caller chose to leave Arizona State.

In total, Brennan completed 60.2% of his career passes for 1,712 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. He graduated in May 2021 with a degree in sport administration.
