Major Outlet Names Pair of Bearcats as Preseason All-Americans

Sporting News revealed its 2023 preseason All-Americans this week and UC had two players make the list in defensive tackle Dontay Corleone and punter Mason Fletcher.

Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Washington were the only schools with multiple names on the list.

Corleone and Fletcher made the second team.

Corleone finished his redshirt freshman season with 44 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. He was a menace for interior offensive linemen to deal with and is a major fulcrum for the new Bryan Brown defensive scheme.

Fletcher was the AAC Special Teams Player of the Year after finishing the 2022 season ranked fourth nationally in average punt distance.

His 84-yard howitzer against SMU set a new program and conference record for single-punt distance. He and Corleone should help Cincinnati's defense and special teams buoy an offense that lagged behind both units this spring.
