Maryland Terrapins quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Maryland Terrapins are a bit banged up entering this week ahead of Saturday’s game against Michigan State. The top contributors in Maryland’s passing game are dealing with injuries.

Maryland head coach Mike Locksley said quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and wide receiver Rakim Jarrett are “game-day decisions,” per Emily Giambalvo of the Washington Post.

Both players got injured in last week’s close loss to Michigan. Tagovailoa has a knee and rib injury. The rib injury was apparent when he briefly exited the game against the Wolverines after a huge hit.

Jarrett suffered a head injury in the third quarter trying to break up a potential interception by Tagovailoa.

Locksley said both players are “progressing well” this week. Jarrett and Tagovailoa are on Maryland’s depth chart for this week’s game.

Tagovailia told reporters, “I feel 100 percent,” per Giambalvo.

The QB practiced Wednesday wearing a knee brace. However, Jarrett didn’t.

Tagovalia has thrown for 1,102 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions in four starts this season. He was held out of the final minutes of the loss to Michigan. Wake Forest transfer Billy Edwards Jr. finished the game against Michigan and threw a touchdown. Edwards is in line to start if Tagovailoa doesn’t play.

Jarrett leads the team with 15 catches and 208 receiving yards.

Maryland is 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan State is on a two-game losing streak, losing at Washington two Saturdays ago and Minnesota last week.
