UCF is two wins away from completing its second consecutive undefeated season, and the Knights still will not have a College Football Playoff appearance to show for it. As far as the team’s quarterback is concerned, the Knights are better than at least one program that would likely make the playoff if the season ended today.

When asked about UCF’s resume this week, quarterback McKenzie Milton called out Notre Dame for its performance against Pitt earlier this season. Milton says film from Notre Dame’s game against Pitt and UCF’s game against the same opponent proves which team is better.

“You look at the [Pitt] film against us and Notre Dame,” Milton told Matt Hayes of Bleacher Report. “You can’t tell me Notre Dame is a better team than us. … We’re better.”

Both UCF and Notre Dame hosted Pitt. The Knights beat the Panthers by 30 on Sept. 29, while the Fighting Irish squeaked out a 19-14 win two weeks later. Milton, who has led UCF to 22 consecutive victories, feels that game film says it all.

“Notre Dame scored late to beat Pitt, and you hear the committee talk about how great it was for them to pull it out,” he said. “Then what we did to Pitt is ignored.”

This storyline certainly isn’t a new one. UCF fans, players and administrators have been harping on how little respect they have gotten since they defeated Auburn in the Peach Bowl last year. They infamously crowned themselves national champions after capping off their undefeated season, which is something they have been trolled for ever since.

No matter what Milton or anyone else says, UCF is nowhere near being considered for a playoff spot. When you look at what oddsmakers think Alabama would do to them, you might think that is for the best.
