Michigan loses another player to the transfer portal

It has not been the best week for Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines

First, they got beat in the College Football Playoff by the TCU Horned Frogs — a team they were supposedly better than.

Adding insult to figurative injury, Michigan has seen three players enter the transfer portal since that loss to TCU.

The latest is sophomore wide receiver Andrel Anthony Jr., who announced his decision to transfer via Twitter:

While Anthony only contributed seven catches for 80 yards and a touchdown this season for Michigan, it is worth noting that he played in every game for the Wolverines so Harbaugh and his staff will be losing an experienced wideout who's about to enter his junior season — which is when most college players really break out.

To that point, Anthony has flashed talent in the past. His rookie season, 2021, saw him catch 12 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 20.7 yards per catch.

Anthony Jr. is the fourth Wolverine to enter the transfer portal since the CFP semifinal.

He joins freshman linebacker Duece Spurlock and two seniors in Julius Welschof and Taylor Upshaw. Michigan also saw captain Erick All, a tight end, and senior quarterback Cade McNamara enter the transfer portal late in 2022 to join the Iowa Hawkeyes.
