Michigan-Ohio State to meet undefeated for first time since 2006

It wasn't pretty for either team, but the stage is set for a beautiful showdown next Saturday when undefeated Michigan travels to undefeated Ohio State. The last time the teams met when both were 11-0 was in 2006 when Ohio State won a thriller, 42-39.

Michigan trailed for most of the fourth quarter of its 19-17 win against Illinois in the tune-up before the big game. The Wolverines won on a field goal with nine seconds left. Ohio State's 43-30 win over Maryland wasn't as dramatic, but the Terrapins were strong enough to keep things interesting in the fourth quarter and outgained the Buckeyes 402-401.

Per ESPN, Ohio State (11-0, 7-0 in Big Ten) has a 69.6 percent chance of winning against Michigan (11-0, 7-0 in Big Ten). Pick Center suggests the Buckeyes should be 7.5-point favorites. The team is led by QB C.J. Stroud, a likely Heisman Trophy finalist. This season, Stroud is 204-of-307 (66.5 percent) for 2,991 yards and 35 touchdowns with four interceptions. He will all but secure an invitation with a win next Saturday.

The same can be said for Michigan running back Blake Corum, although that is in jeopardy after he suffered a knee injury late in the second quarter Saturday. He returned for one play on the opening drive of the second half but left for good after that play.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh gave a positive, but muted, response when asked about his running back's status next week after the game

A week earlier against Nebraska, the team lost running back Donovan Edwards after only two rushing attempts. Edwards averages 6.7 yards on 70 carries. He didn't play against Illinois.

The Buckeyes appear to be in a good position to improve to 12-0 ahead of the Big Ten Championship Game. Michigan's defense is strong enough to make it tough on Stroud, but it will be difficult keeping up if Corum and Edwards are unable to play or are limited due to injuries

After Saturday's games, Michigan allows 241.3 yards and 11.7 points per game, and Ohio State's offense averages 492.7 yards and 46.5 points per game.

The stage is set for the biggest Michigan-Ohio State game in 16 years. Whether the main cast or understudies suit up for Michigan could determine if it lives up to its billing.
