Michigan RB Blake Corum has extra motivation heading into 'The Game' against Ohio State
This is not just "The Game" for Michigan running back Blake Corum.
Yes, it's Michigan versus Ohio State. No. 3 versus No. 2 and everything that goes along with it, including a trip to the Big Ten championship and a likely spot in the College Football Playoff.
For Corum, though, this is a chance to make his mark. Corum can erase the disappointment of 2022 when he was only able to play two snaps against the Buckeyes. A lingering injury he sustained the week before against Illinois knocked him out of game action.
Boasting 880 yards and 20 touchdowns under his belt heading into this contest, Corum is excited for the chance to make his mark on the rivalry game -- fully healthy, and locked and loaded.
As good as Corum is, it's going to be tough sledding against an Ohio State team that has excelled on defense this season. The Buckeyes are No. 2 in the country in points given up per game with just 9.3. That's bad news for Michigan at first glance, but keep in mind, the No. 1 defense in that category is on Corum's sideline. Michigan is giving up just nine points per game.
OSU is giving up 108.55 yards per game on the ground this season, so if there is a weakness to their defense, Corum seems to be the perfect player to exploit it.
Corum is averaging 80.72 yards per game, but he's absolutely a fiend for the endzone. He has seven multi-touchdown games this season on the ground, including three rushing scores against Purdue and three against UNLV.
