P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Gophers finished with a top-40 recruiting class in 2024, adding a ton of talent to their future offense with three- and four-star recruits at multiple spots. Now, that supporting class may have its quarterback of the future with a top commitment from the 2025 class.

Heading into late March, Fleck didn’t have a single commit in the Minnesota 2025 recruiting class. While the Gophers were in pursuit of several quality recruits across the country, not a single player committed to Minnesota. That’s all changed in a hurry.

On March 22, three-star cornerback prospect Zachry Harden became the first commitment of the 2025 Minnesota recruiting class. Just a few days later, three-star defensive lineman Torin Pettaway announced his commitment to the Gophers. Now, Minnesota has gained its third commitment in less than a week.

On Friday, four-star quarterback Jackson Kollock announced his commitment to the Gophers’ football program, providing Minnesota with one of its best recruits of the 2024 class. Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know about the new Gophers’ quarterback commit.

Fleck and the Gophers’ coaching staff have pulled another recruit from outside the state. While Pettaway (Wisconsin) and Harden (Georgia) required shorter recruiting trips for Minnesota, Kollock is from Laguna Beach High School in California.

  • Jackson Pollock stats (MaxPreps): 5,376 passing yards, 61.3% completion rate, 268.8 passing yards per game, 73 passing touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 124.8 QB rating, 418 rushing yards, 13 TDs in two seasons

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Kollock is a four-star recruit in the On3 Industry Rankings. Rivals is the highest on him, ranking him as the 245th-best player in the nation and the 17th-best quarterback in the country. 247Sports and On3.com both have him rated as a three-star recruit in their individual rankings.

Kollock’s commitment to Minnesota is a bit of a surprise. Entering the Week, On3’s prediction machine had him at 97.8 percent for the Washington Huskies, with a 1.5 percent chance of committing to the Colorado Buffaloes. He also drew interest from Cal-Berkeley. This past season at Laguna Beach, Kollock posted a 9-2 record as the starter, leading the school to the CIF Division 7 playoffs.
