Mississippi State has fallen on some hard times recently, and after the sad passing of head coach Mike Leach in 2022, the program turned the head coaching job over to defensive coordinator Zach Arnett. However, after one season as the head coach, the Bulldogs decided to move on and hire Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator, Jeff Lebby, as their new head man.

Jeff Lebby Has The Chance To Make Mississippi State Special Again

Lebby is heading to Starkville with significant hopes of returning the program to where it was a few years ago, and he could be the guy to do it. Lebby has one of the best offensive minds in college football, and it will take some time to get the program back to where it wants to go; he should be able to do it, but he won’t have a significant quarterback in 2024 to help him out.

The Bulldogs Lost Mike Wright To The Portal

According to Matt Zenitz from 247sports.com, quarterback Mike Wright is expected to enter the transfer portal.

Wright started his career at Vanderbilt, another SEC school, and spent his first three seasons there before joining the Bulldogs last year.

Wright Has A Great Athletic Ability

Wright appeared in 12 games for Mississippi State last season, throwing for 453 yards and three scores and rushing for 324 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs losing Wright isn’t a good thing because he could come in and change the game with his incredible athletic ability, and now they will have to look elsewhere at the position.
