Missouri quarterback Brady Cook was named a Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist on Tuesday. This honor is given to the nation's best quarterback.

This isn't the first time Cook has been mentioned for the prestigious award as he was named among 35 signal callers to the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Class of 2023 on Oct. 31.

Cook has been a major contributor to the Tigers' best season since 2013, and his numbers reflect that. The senior is in the top-5 in all of the SEC's passing categories. Additionally, Cook can also make an impact on the ground, as he's in the top half among quarterbacks in the conference in rushing yards. His passing yards total is also the 16th-most in FBS, as he's averaged 275 per game this season.

Cook played a pivotal role in the dominant 36-7 win over Tennessee this past Saturday, as he matched his season average of 275 passing yards, but he completed 18-of-24 attempts (75 percent). Both of those numbers were his best since Sept. 30 against Vanderbilt.

Cook's best outing of the season came against Vanderbilt, as he completed 33-of-41 pass attempts for 395 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Georgia Bulldogs clinched the SEC East recently, meaning the Tigers won't have a shot at the conference championship game. Missouri currently sits at No. 2 in the division, which is one of the biggest surprises in college football this season. Cook is one of the many reasons for this.

Nevertheless, Cook and the Tigers' two remaining games against Florida and Arkansas are very winnable, meaning they could finish the season with only two losses. That being said, a New Year's Six bowl game is certainly a possibility.
