HOUSTON — Fisk University Women's Gymnastics program has had a tremendously successful launch to its inaugural season. The ladies, led by the graceful Morgan Price, have taken the collegiate gymnastics world by storm.

Price will showcase her talent as an individual qualifier at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships inside Texas Woman's University's Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, TX, on April 6-8.

Morgan's teammates will accompany her and participate as individual qualifiers:

  • Aliyah Reed-Hammon (vault, beam alternate)
  • Kiara Richmon (bars)
  • Liberty Mora (beam, floor alternate)
  • Zyia Coleman (floor)

The event schedule will begin with the Team and All-Around competition session at 2 PM CT on Thur. April 6. The Team Final is kickoff at 7 PM CT on Fri. April 7. The Individual Finals will occur at 1 PM CT on Saturday, April 8. Live streaming will be available for purchase.

The Ladies of Fisk will open the event at 2 PM CT against Air Force, Bridgeport, Brown, Centenary College, Cornell, Lindenwood, S.E. Missouri, Southern Conn., West Chester, and Yale.

As a team, the Fisk Gymnastics program ranks 71st in the country with a Team National Qualifying Score of 190.005. The ladies were outstanding for a program celebrating its first season of inception and competition as a Division III team from the Southeast.

Fisk completed the regular season as the No. 5 Division III team that outscored established groups like Ithaca, Centenary, and Springfield Colleges.

Should we put their first season in perspective, consider the nation's top programs and scoring:

  • No. 1 Oklahoma (198.355, Div. I),
  • No. 2 Florida (198.110, Div. I),
  • No. 3 Michigan (198.080, Div. I)

Coach Corinne Tarver successfully launched the first HBCU gymnastics program from scratch, especially with four young ladies who will compete for individual titles in April.
