Nebraska football returns the third-most production in college football and with a manageable schedule, a bowl game is a must.

One thing that’s probably not talked about enough is the fact that Nebraska football ranks third in terms of returning production in college football with 70 percent of their production returning according to On3’s JD Pickell.

Pickell runs a college football show on YouTube and Nebraska football was his topic earlier this week as he talked about the Huskers returning production. Essentially, Pickell was making the point that it’s time for Nebraska football to end their bowl drought.

The time is perfect for the Huskers to do so. Matt Rhule talked about the sense of urgency within the program this week. He said Nebraska football is “5-7” until we kick off against UTEP.

Nebraska started 5-3 last season and lost four straight games to finish just one win short of a bowl game. The Huskers will need to finish the job this year and the signing of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola should be vital in that outcome.

The Huskers had more turnovers from quarterbacks than any other program in college football. So even though Raiola is inexperienced, he’s extremely talented and he only threw one interception last season in high school. If that translates, Nebraska should be in a great spot.

That’s especially true when you look at the schedule, which features five of the first six games at home. The back half of the schedule is challenging with four of the last six on the road. Those games also include USC, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, UCLA, and Indiana.

A fast start is imperative but Pickell is right about Nebraska football going bowling in 2024. At least he should be.
