Nebraska football hasn’t been super active this spring in the transfer portal but Matt Rhule has always said he’ll take good players if he can get them.

On Tuesday night, he added another. Former in-state standout Vince Genatone, who didn’t get an offer from Nebraska football (signing with Montana) entered the portal last week. The Huskers made quick contact and landed his commitment.

Genatone runs the 100-meter dash in sub 10.5. He was set to be a starting outside linebacker for the Grizzlies as well as possibly a kick returner. He redshirted in 2022 and played on special teams last season for a team that went to the FCS national title game.

Genatone visited Tuesday and according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, he’ll be joining the Huskers as a preferred walk-on.

Another transfer who wouldn’t be coming as a preferred walk-on is Dylan Edwards. The four-star running back spent last season with Colorado and was their leading rusher. He’s also a dynamic pass catcher and there Nebraska is one of the teams in the mix.

Jack Lange trending away from Nebraska football

It wasn’t that long ago that Nebraska felt like the leader for Jack Lange. One expert was even talking about putting in an expert projection in favor of the Cornhuskers.

It never came though. Lange is now set to announce his commitment on Wednesday night and all signs point to Missouri getting the win. The Huskers have also fallen off with five-star Andrew Babalola out of Kansas.

There are some other targets on the board at tackle, and you might see the board expand even more.

Nebraska Cornhuskers walk off Iowa twice

Despite a ton of injuries, the Nebraska softball team keeps battling. The Huskers swept Iowa on Tuesday, using a walk-off double, and a walk-off home run to beat the Hawkeyes twice.

In game one, Bella Bacon ripped a double to drive home the game-winning run in a 1-0 win for the Cornhuskers. Kaylin Kinney got the win after tossing eight shutout innings. She allowed six hits in the first shutout of her career.

In game two, Ava Bredwell was the hero. She hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to break the hearts of the Hawkeyes. Bacon went for 2-for-4. Billie Andrews also tacked on two RBI for the Huskers who are 27-19 overall and 10-6 in the Big Ten. A series against first-place Northwestern awaits this weekend.

Nebraska baseball suffered another mid-week loss, losing to Kansas 9-4. That’s the fourth consecutive non-conference loss for the Huskers (25-13, 8-4). The Huskers host Iowa for a three-game set this weekend.
