Tennessee Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy hasn't had a chance to practice with quarterback Nico Iamaleava since the former five-star recruit took over as UT's starting quarterback.
McCoy has been sidelined since suffering a season-ending injury in the Vols' win against South Carolina last September.
But despite not being able to practice with Iamaleava this spring, McCoy has still seen enough to know that his fellow California native is a "receiver's dream".
McCoy, who is expected to be a full go for fall camp, joined the SEC Network's broadcast of the Vols' annual Orange and White spring game on Saturday and he oozed with excitement when asked about Iamaleava.
"Man, he's like a receiver's dream," said McCoy. "He's an accurate passer, he can extend plays. He's great on his feet. And he's smart -- he's a ballplayer. So, when you're looking at what you got in front of you, there's not a better quarterback. And he's just a great dude and a great teammate."
There are several reasons why Tennessee was an attractive option for wide receivers during the 2024 recruiting cycle. One reason, of course, is the Vols' receiver-friendly offense. Another reason is because elite wide receivers badly want to play with Iamaleava.
Iamaleava, by the way, looked solid during his reps in the Vols' spring game on Saturday, completing seven of nine passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
