Ohio State welcomes football players back on June 8

There continue to be positive signs that the NCAA will hold a college football season on time amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As Patrick Murphy of 247Sports wrote, Ohio State University has unveiled its protocols for how student-athletes will be welcomed back to school. Football players are allowed to return to facilities for voluntary workouts on Monday, June 8.

Other fall athletes will be permitted to return to campus across the following two Mondays.

Before football players and other athletes can begin workouts, they must pass a physical examination, provide a negative COVID-19 test, and undergo courses regarding social distancing practices. They will also undergo daily temperature checks.

Any person who tests positive for the coronavirus must self-isolate and quarantine for 14 days.

Head coaches and other members are banned from the voluntary workouts.

While speaking with reporters earlier this week, Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said he was concerned some of his peers may try to push the limits of upcoming voluntary workouts:

"Sadly, in our college game, 'voluntary' has always been a very loose term. The reality of the matter is there's different institutions and there's different conferences that allow you to do a different amount, or some just look the other way."

Also on Friday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced spectators will be allowed to attend the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament held at Jack Nicklaus' Muirfield Village Golf Club scheduled for July.

The Memorial is the first PGA Tour event that is officially planning to host spectators since the virus outbreak suspended the season.
