Ohio State running back Miyan Williams and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba are among the nine players unavailable for Saturday’s game at Maryland, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
Williams suffered an apparent right ankle injury in the second quarter of last week’s win over Indiana. He was carted off the field, then was spotted in a walking boot on crutches in the second half.
Williams’ absence is made easier by the fact that both TreVeyon Henderson and Chip Trayanum will be available Saturday, backing up head coach Ryan Day’s statement that he expected at least two of the three back this week.
Offensive tackle Dawand Jones will also be back after he was a game-time decision and ultimately a late scratch against the Hoosiers. Smith-Njigba, meanwhile, will continue to be sidelined with a lingering hamstring injury.
“I wouldn’t say ‘expecting,’” Day said when asked if he was expecting Smith-Njigba to play again this season. “I’d probably say more ‘hoping,’ but no (other) update at this point.”
That said, the full list of players who are unavailable for Saturday’s game against the Terrapins can be seen below:
