On Tuesday morning, Oklahoma landed a commitment from one of the top players in the transfer portal.

Former Purdue wide receiver Deion Burks announced on social media that he will transfer to Oklahoma after an impressive redshirt sophomore season in 2023.

Burks earned Second-Team All-Big 10 honors this season for the Boilermakers, tallying 629 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games.

With Sooners’ veteran wideout Drake Stoops’ career in Norman now complete, Emmett Jones and company needed another experienced playmaker to replace the sixth-year senior, who recorded 880 yards and 10 touchdowns in the regular season.

Burks was considered one of the top players in the transfer portal this year, and reportedly considered leaving college for the NFL Draft. The 5-foot-10 pass catcher will be a huge addition to OU’s offense next year in the SEC.

With Nic Anderson, Jayden Gibson, Jalil Farooq and Andrew Anthony all likely returning to Oklahoma as well, former 5-star quarterback prospect Jackson Arnold should have plenty of weapons at his disposal.
