Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley won't name starting QB for TCU game

The No. 4-ranked Oklahoma Sooners improved to 6-0 on the season via Saturday's thrilling 55-48 victory over the Texas Longhorns during which Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler was benched in favor of freshman Caleb Williams.

According to Kevin Wilson of ESPN, Sooners coach Lincoln Riley told reporters Tuesday he doesn't intend on naming a starting signal-caller ahead of this Saturday's matchup against the 3-2 TCU Horned Frogs.

Additionally, Riley gave Rattler Monday off practice.

"There's never any guarantees," Riley said about one of his quarterbacks potentially leaving the program this fall. "You can't predict the future, but I would anticipate having both of those guys the rest of the season."

Riley also explained he prefers not having to rotate quarterbacks during any given game.

Williams completed 16-of-25 passes for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns with 88 rushing yards and an additional score against Texas. Rattler, meanwhile, threw an interception and lost a fumble before he was replaced by Williams.

Brandon Marcello of 247Sports noted over the weekend that Williams looked more comfortable in the pocket and leading the offense against Texas, particularly on plays where he had to improvise and use his legs.
