After a stellar junior season, Oklahoma linebacker Danny Stutsman was named to the Walter Camp All-American Second Team on Friday evening.

In his third season with the Sooners, Stutsman tallied 99 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one interception that he returned for a touchdown against Tulsa.

The Windermere, FL, product was also a First-Team All-Big 12 selection despite missing the second half of OU's loss to Kansas and being sidelined for Oklahoma's game against Oklahoma State with a lower body injury.

The impressive year for Stutsman comes after a solid sophomore season that saw the 6-foot-4, 240-pound defender record a conference-high 125 tackles. Despite his production in 2022, however, Stutsman did not receive All-Big 12 honors.

Earlier this week, SoonerScoop.com reported that Stutsman has decided to declare for the NFL Draft, but an official announcement has yet to be made. At the Alamo Bowl coaches press conference on Thursday, Sooners' head coach Brent Venables addressed the rumors.

“Everything has its time,” Venables said. “And whenever Danny’s prepared to let everybody know what his future is gonna look like, out of respect for him, I’ll reserve comment for that moment in time.”

Bringing back an All-American linebacker would be a huge boost for OU's defense as the team heads into the SEC next season. If Stutsman does end up heading to the pros, however, the Sooners will likely try to find a veteran linebacker in the transfer portal to add to their solid group of talented young linebackers.
