The Oklahoma Sooners are loading up on talent for the 2024 season. They have already landed a couple of great pieces in the transfer portal and have gotten some of their upperclassmen to return. Today, they landed another offensive weapon. Former Purdue wide receiver Deion Burks has committed to Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Sooners Land WR Deion Burks

Burks played in all 12 games for the Purdue Boilermakers in 2023. He racked up 47 receptions for 629 yards and 7 touchdowns. Burks is known for his blazing speed and good route running. He is a perfect fit for the high-octane Sooners offense. He had this to say in a statement.

“The culture and the coaches! They explained a lot to me that had to do with stuff outside of football, that’ll set you up for success. Overall I just liked the environment they’re building and where they’re going as a program.”

Outlook For 2024

The Sooners are looking awfully good for 2024 early in the offseason. With a couple of defense studs returning and all the talent coming in, head coach Brent Venables is ready for the move to the SEC. The program wants to make a good first impression and show that it belongs in the conversation of the best teams in the SEC. There is still a lot of offseason to go and the Sooners still have plenty of holes to fill. However, as most teams scramble with players entering the portal and leaving, the Sooners are sitting pretty.

Can the Oklahoma Sooners win the SEC in 2024? If they keep this up, it is definitely possible.
