Goodbye Texas Bowl, hello offseason.

After escaping Houston with a 31-23 victory over Texas A&M, the Oklahoma State Cowboys will head into the offseason with high expectations for next season.

Before we head to next season, we have to look back at this season. There was a lot of good and a lot of bad, especially at quarterback. Let's recap how Alan Bowman and the quarterback room did this season.

Overall Recap: They got the job done.

Let's be honest, the quarterbacks, especially in the first three games, were up and down all season.

The Cowboys started out the season with a quarterback competition, with Bowman, Garret Rangel and Gunnar Gundy all splitting time leading the offense.

After Mike Gundy and the staff settled with Bowman, the offense felt more balanced and consistent with Bowman under center.

While the offense did switch to a more aggressive rushing attack, including Ollie Gordon getting most of the attention on offense, Bowman did enough to give OSU the best chance to win in each game.

Alan Bowman Grade: C+

Bowman did what he had to do all season long. He finished with 3,460 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, including 402 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Aggies on Wednesday.

The main problem with Bowman this season was taking care of the football. He finished with 14 interceptions on the season, including nine interceptions in the last nine games.

Bowman's future with the Cowboys is uncertain, for the NCAA is still reviewing his waiver.

Who knows who is going to be the starting quarterback next season for the Cowboys. Zane Flores could be the next man up if Bowman's waiver is denied. They could look into the portal and grab another quarterback for the second straight season.

With Gordon and all five offensive linemen coming back for the 2024 season, adding Bowman would create the same balance and consistency that we saw at times this season.
