Oklahoma State OT Teven Jenkins opts out to focus on NFL Draft
The No. 23-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys improved to 6-2 overall via Saturday's 50-44 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders but have since lost an offensive mainstay for the remainder of the season.
Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins confirmed on Monday that he is opting out of the rest of the campaign to focus on the 2021 NFL Draft.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Jenkins missed the game against Texas Tech due to lingering back pain. The senior suffered an injury in the 41-13 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Nov. 21.
Jenkins made 12 starts last season and 13 the prior year and is widely credited for helping Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard lead the FBS in rushing yards in 2019. He's listed at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds.
Earlier this month, Charlie Campbell of Walter Football listed Jenkins as the seventh-best prospect at offensive tackle for next year's draft class.
"Jenkins is a big edge protector who will enter the NFL with a lot of experience," Campbell wrote. "He broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore and has been a steady contributor to the success that Chuba Hubbard has found on the ground. Some have projected him as a first- or second-round pick, but in speaking with multiple team sources, they have Jenkins a little bit lower."
