Last week, Tulsa’s secondary gave up 409 passing yards to a left-handed quarterback — Washington’s Michael Penix. He completed 28-of-38 and completed passes to 10 different receivers. With Oklahoma’s running game continuing to struggle at times, Jeff Lebby follows the same formula at Chapman Stadium: lefty Dillon Gabriel throws it all over Skelly Field, a lot of wideouts get opportunities, and the Sooners roll to an easy victory. Depending on Tulsa’s quarterback situation, Saturday could be a nice test for the OU defense.

Kevin Wilson’s track record as a play caller is undeniable, but there are plenty of questions surrounding Tulsa’s offense out of his hands. Injuries have stunted the Golden Hurricane passing game early, meaning Tulsa has had to turn to the ground attack to find consistency early. Oklahoma’s new and improved defensive line should be enough to stifle Tulsa on the ground, and the secondary will be too athletic to allow many big plays behind them. On the other side of the ball, Dillon Gabriel is primed for an explosive day after Washington just passed for 454 yards, allowing the Sooners to get out in front and coast across the finish line in OU’s first road trip of the season.

Last week, the No. 8-ranked Washington Huskies racked up a whopping 454 passing yards against the Golden Hurricane, adding 109 yards on the ground. The Sooners have a much more balanced offensive attack than Washington and should be able to score early and let the second-stringers get a few reps in the second half. On defense, Tulsa’s struggles at quarterback should lead to easy stops and potentially a few more forced turnovers from OU’s defense.

Final: Oklahoma 45, Tulsa 10

Tulsa lost 43-10 to Washington a week ago, and I don’t see this one being much different. The Sooners have talent all over the field and have fared well against smaller Group of Five teams to this point. The backups and young players should be able to get a lot of burn, and the starters have a chance to build momentum heading into Big 12 play. Tulsa has two solid options at quarterback, but OU’s secondary has been stout. Woodi Washington has been a true lockdown corner so far. This could be the game Oklahoma’s pass rush finally gets to the quarterback a few times. Sooners win big.

Final: Oklahoma 52, Tulsa 17

Look for Oklahoma to play its most complete game of the season against Tulsa on the road. The offense is determined to run the ball more effectively, with Jovantae Barnes and Gavin Sawchuk getting more carries, and the pass rush will get after Roman Fuller or whoever Golden Hurricane head coach and former OU offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson throws out there following injuries to Week 1 starter Braylon Braxton and Week 2 starter Cardell Williams. The Sooners will make it 10 straight wins against their neighbors to the northeast in convincing fashion.

Final: Oklahoma 42, Tulsa 10
