The Ole Miss Rebels lost another recent transfer on Saturday, as former Mississippi State Bulldogs cornerback Decamerion Richardson announced via social media that he will be entering the 2024 NFL Draft.

"I would like to thank Mississippi State, the coaching staff, and my teammates for the last four years," Richardson via X (formerly Twitter). It has been an honor to be a Bulldog, and I will be forever grateful. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to enter the 2024 NFL Draft."

Richardson announced his commitment to Ole Miss on Dec. 18, and less than a month later has elected to go pro, effectively ending his brief career as a Rebel. Before transferring to Ole Miss, the Cullen, La., native recorded 177 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and 10 passes defended in 45 games with Mississippi State. Pro Football Focus granted Richardson a 86.4 rating in 2023, good enough for No. 4 in the SEC at his position.

With Richardson now preparing for the NFL, Ole Miss is left with transfer defensive backs Tahveon Nicholson (Illinois), Louis Moore (Indiana), and Key Lawrence (Oklahoma). The Rebels also recently lost former Tennessee Volunteers safety/linebacker Tamarion McDonald to the Louisville Cardinals, and hybrid defensive back Ladarius Tennison to the portal as well.

There is no need for Ole Miss fans to panic, however, as Lane Kiffin has historically done his best work in the portal in the month of January and beyond. Two of Kiffin's most notable January transfers include quarterback Jaxson Dart and defensive lineman Jared Ivey.
