During an appearance on The Five Star Flex with Phillip Dukes of On3 Sports, Martels Carter, a four-star safety hailing from Paducah Tilghman High School in Paducah, Kentucky, unveiled his top three college choices. The Oregon Ducks are a finalist to land his commitment.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, Carter named Clemson, Kentucky, and Oregon as his preferred schools. Notably, Kentucky emerges as the frontrunner, as indicated by the On3 RPM.

Ranked as the No. 173 prospect overall and the 15th safety in the class of 2025, Carter holds the distinction of being Kentucky’s top player, according to On3’s industry rankings.

During his junior year, Carter showcased his versatility by excelling as both a defensive back and wide receiver, tallying an impressive 962 receiving yards and securing 10 touchdowns.

Carter’s journey also included a stint at Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during his sophomore year. His standout performance during the 2022 season featured 47 total tackles, seven pass breakups, three interceptions, and four forced fumbles.

It will be interesting to see if the Oregon Ducks can get something done with Carter, or if the standout cornerback ends up staying in Kentucky.
